MSC Malaysia companies see great savings through Six Sigma
Maximising your potential - MDeC CDP

Up to 21 participants from 12 MSC companies have graduated from MSC Malaysia Six Sigma Programme, which was conducted as a training led consultancy for the duration of four months in 2009. The Green Belt training programme was conducted in three modules with a total of seven days from July to October, 2009. The training utilised a transactional simulation to create a problem and demonstrated application of DMAIC methodology in solving it. The main objective of the training is to equip all the participants with Lean Six Sigma skill set to enables them to make continuous improvement in their own area.

The Green Belt Programme was initiated early of the year in response to the request of MSC Malaysia community to assist them in the challenging year of 2009, MDEC COO Ng Wan Peng said at Graduation Ceremony held on Nov 25 in Putrajaya.

Wan Peng said,”This programme has indeed helped companies attract investors and built client confidence, besides enhancing competencies.” She added,”I sincerelky hope that the participants will continue to strive for improvements even though they have completed the programme.”

Conducted by CDP- the event was one of the 20 specific programmes organised throughout 2009 in key areas for ‘quick wins” such as in customer service, systematic innovation, cost optimisation, process improvement, product performance enhancement, brand management and others.

About 250 companies have benefited through the series of programmes to assist them in weathering current economic situation.

Facts and Figures
The high profile Green Belt training programme has led to:
  1. Paradigm Systems Berhad saving RM1.3 million by improving their total resolution time for support service
  2. Mexter MSC Sdn Bhd saving RM621,000 by improving their average software deliverables’ delivery time.
  3. EA Consulting Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd (eacap) saving RM145,000 by reducing bud interactions, errors and resource over allocation of their RFP activities.
  4. 12 participating companies seeing total projected savings of RM3.13 million.
