Dato Dr. Salim Cassim

Dato’ Salim has been the Chairman of Embedded Wireless Labs since its inception. He is also Chairman of Rapid Synergy Bhd. Dato’ Salim also serves on the Board of Directors of Pertiwi Shipping Sdn Bhd.
He was also formerly on the Board of directors of News Straits Times, Southern Bank Berhad and Killinghall (Malaysia) Berhad.
He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland in 1964 and was founder partner of Kumpulan Medic a medical group practice with clinics in Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley.

Ken comes with more than 24 years of engineering /business experience in telecommunications, wireless technologies, medical information systems and U.S. Government applications.
At the beginning of the micro computer industry in the 1980s, Ken developed medical applications software running on peer to peer networks.
In 1986, he was one of the pioneers of what would become the outsourcing engineering services and GIS Data Base development industry, managing projects for Indian Bell, Pacific Bell and later with Lockheed Missiles and Space. As a Systems Designer with the US Navy, Ken designed temporary systems to help bridge applications as the US Navy transitioned from one fully integrated system to another for tracking ship intermediate maintenance.
In 1998, Ken became the CTO of Embedded Wireless Labs. During this period of steady development activity, the company received more than 43 international patents. Ken holds multiple patents in RF communications protocols, location based services, micropayment and telecommunication signaling.
He is a member of the International Telecommunication Union Development Sector, and participates in various activities of the ITU.
Ken attended Carnegie-Mellon University.

Tom Mathai

Tom Mathai is one of the founders of Embedded Wireless Labs.
He started his first Internet business in 1994 at the age of 19.
The company, Caught in the Web based out of Toronto, Canada was one of the pioneer Web Solutions businesses in North America.
Caught in the Web developed the initial online presences for many Fortune 500 Companies including Time Warner, Purolator and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Other clients inlcuded the Federal Government of Canada, IBM Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, Deloitte & Touche International, Virgin Music and Bank of Nova Scotia.
In 1997, Tom left Canada to focus on growth opportunities in Asia and in turn setup a presence in Malaysia the year that the Malaysian Government setup the Multimedia Super Corridor, (MSC) which provided major economic and infrastructure benefits to technology companies to build the country's knowledge based economy.
EWL was one of the first 50 companies to be awarded MSC status in Malaysia. This status has provided EWL access to resources and benefits that allow the company to compete globally as a world class ODM with a heavy focus in RF.
Tom has helped launch both Private and Public companies in Australia, Canada and the United States, specifically in the wireless, internet, and data storage fields. All these companies have had EWL as a development or commercialisation partner.
Tom has published and issued patents in the fields of Location Based Services and Micropayments.
Tom attended the University of Toronto and worked at the Dynamic Graphics Project under Human Computer Interaction pioneers Dr. Ronald Baecker and Dr. Bill Buxton. |
